Job Description

The Technology Coordinator leads the strategic planning and day-to-day operation of computer labs and classroom technology in the Department of Mass Communication (MCOM) in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC). The MCOM Lab Manager works with faculty, staff, and students on a broad range of instructional, research, and administrative support that involve computer hardware, software, and related equipment and technology: Maintain safety and security protocols of the labs and classrooms according to the university’s guidelines; respond to first-level support calls and troubleshoot problems as they occur in classroom, lab, and administrative spaces; coordinate with campus technical support staff to manage or solve larger issues; plan future needs and upgrades of technology in the department; serve on the COFAC Technology Committee; maintain up-to-date inventory of all hardware, software and equipment; train and supervise student employees in computer imaging and deployment, software installation, security policies, basic network connectivity, and proper recycling of outdated lab computers; schedule and staff open labs; and manage departmental resources for purchase, maintenance, and setup of equipment and supplies. Support the department with other duties as assigned, including a back-up support for the department’s website, multimedia online news site, and media production equipment.

Experience Required

Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of experience in providing direct support to technology users, preferably in higher education environment. High level knowledge of computer, classroom technology, various software and applications used in academic departments and mass communication discipline to support teaching, research, and administration.

Job Description

The University of Wyoming is seeking a motivated, engaged, and self-starting AV Control Systems Engineer to help modernize the presentation and conferencing systems across campus. The AV Control System Engineer is responsible for the digital architecture, graphical user interface (GUI) development, programmable digital signal processing, control system administration, and engineering expertise for all classrooms, conference rooms, digital signage, and display systems on UW’s main campus and satellite locations. 

The AV Control System Engineer works within a team environment and reports to the Manager, Instructional Technology.  This position works closely with the Classroom Technology Services team, other IT units, and contracted vendors in the design, integration, installation, testing, and evaluating of AV control systems in classrooms and other learning environments. The position requires strong technical knowledge and a creative approach to graphical user interface programming logic in learning environments to maintain a future-oriented vision for development.
