Audiovisual Systems Engineer
Job Description
The classroom technology team in the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) manages the design and integration of new A/V systems into RIT learning spaces while also supporting the day-to-day operations of over a hundred classrooms and eight auditoriums across campus. The team also coordinates with central IT and provides guidance to the RIT community on AV best practices and AV system procurement.
The person in this role is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of existing University classrooms across campus; providing advanced troubleshooting for system malfunctions; managing a team of student technicians; and, supervising the installation of audiovisual (A/V) and instructional technology systems in classrooms, auditoriums and other related facilities in all campus buildings. This person also consults with RIT clients and manages vendor relationships to ensure excellence and efficiency in long-term use and maintenance of campus learning spaces. To facilitate this they must keep current on emerging AV technologies, provide support for CTL teaching initiatives, and provide guidance how options to maximize replacement budgets to ensure institute priorities are met.
Experience Required
Bachelor's Degree or or equivalent experience in IT, Electrical Engineer, or similar technology field. CTS Certified or willing to acquire within one year. 5+ years experience in audio/visual technologies and experience providing direct service to others. 3+ years experience leading or providing technical support and experience planning and coordinating materials and projects.
