Job Description
The classroom technology team in CTL manages the design and integration of new AV systems into RIT learning spaces while also supporting the day-to-day operations of over a hundred classrooms and eight auditoriums across campus. In addition, upon request, they provide user support for all learning environments across the University and if needed will troubleshoot system outages and advise on system redesigns. The team also coordinates with network engineers and security engineers within central IT to ensure audio/visual systems are appropriately configured on RIT’s network. In addition, they provide guidance to the RIT community on AV best practices and AV system procurement.
The role of the AV Systems Designer/Programmer II involves working with the AV team to configure, program, and maintain the AV equipment supported by CTL across campus. The person in this role will also assist with gathering requirements, creating preliminary AV system designs, selecting appropriate equipment, programming control systems, designing user interface, and providing ongoing support and troubleshooting. They understand AV system programming languages, are proficient in AV technologies, and are versed in AV industry standards. With their technical skills and creative problem-solving abilities, AV Systems Designer/Programmer II supports the delivery of immersive and reliable AV experiences tailored to the RIT experience.
In addition, they will occasionally provide supervision, mentoring, and coaching for co-op and student employees. Other responsibilities also include evaluation of emerging A/V technologies, alignment of technologies with RIT priorities, ensuring system security, fulfilling customer requests, developing standards.
